I have found that the handles from most lawnmowers make excellent knobs for woodworking jigs. If your neighborhood is like mine, there is always a supply of free knobs by the curb!:)

Wanted to thank everyone who replied about making a router jig to cut dados in a plywood cabinet. Attached is a photo of a jig I just made with scrap lumber (and salvaged knobs). The jig is designed to be adjusted to the exact thicness of the plywood. Thanks for everyone who helped me with this.

Exercise machines are another good source of knobs. Most have hardly been used, if at all.
