I just came in from a l o n g day in the shop. A good day too. I finished the revamp on the router/planer station that I started on last weekend!! I think it turned out pretty well. The fence and the storage are certainly WAY better than before. :D

Here is the old station...obviously it's made from some recycled kitchen cabinets...

<IMG SRC="http://www.terryhatfield.com/new_router_table.jpg">

Here it is after some "demo"........

<IMG SRC="http://www.terryhatfield.com/nrsbase.jpg">

Got the new top on .....

<IMG SRC="http://www.terryhatfield.com/nrs7.jpg">

Here it is with the old drawers and doors removed and the new oak face frame installed...

<IMG SRC="http://www.terryhatfield.com/nrs10.jpg">

And here it is done...

<IMG SRC="http://www.terryhatfield.com/nrs14.jpg">

<IMG SRC="http://www.terryhatfield.com/nrsf2.jpg">

<IMG SRC="http://www.terryhatfield.com/nrsf5.jpg">

It's almond 3/4" melamine. The top is a 2 layer gule up with a 3/4" mdf layer on the bottom. The top, the fence and all the drawers are edgebanded with oak. I used the big Rockler plate and Rockler t tracks and t bolts etc...

The drawers are all dovetailed and the 3 center drawers are on 100 lb. full extension slides. The top drawer is where I will store my routers and bits. The drawer is 37"W X 20"D X 10"T!! All the drawers are made from 1/2" baltic birch plywood. All of the drawers have 1/4" melamine faced hard board for bottoms except the big drawer. It has a 1/2" bb bottom for additional strength.

<IMG SRC="http://www.terryhatfield.com/nrsud.jpg">

I have sanders and sand paper in one of the lower drawers and finishing supplies like brushes, gloves and such in the other.

<IMG SRC="http://www.terryhatfield.com/nrsld.jpg">

Thanks for looking!!! I enjoyed building it and I'm sure I will enjoy using it even more!!

Von,

Thanks..you know me. I can't leave well enough alone. :D

Jim,

Yeh right...slum.....I've seen many a Euro combination machine in the slums around here. :D

I just got tired of looking at the bench top saw so I decided to build a different top. Things kinda got out of hand along the way somehow. :confused: :D :D

Nice "rework" Terry! That is a vast improvement. :) Don't the "utility jobs" always get out of hand?

Terry, aren't you a little premature on the celebration there bud?

Websters: "Done: To bring to an end by action; to perform completely; to finish; to accomplish"

I don't see no stinkin' finish on the oak edgebanding! And, those drawers are not clear coated, and those knobs... BARE WOOD! Face frame - RAW. (Just pulling your chain Terry! :))

Anyways, your UNFINISHED project looks great!!

Looking great Terry. But I'm SURE you will find additional improvements you can make. But next time, you need to start from scratch. Soooo, let me know when you begin the NEWER IMPROVED model, and I'll come haul that one away for you, absolutely FREE of charge. Now don't spread this around, I wouldn't do something like that for just anybody!

Terry,
Great looking, and very functional. I'm amazed at how fast this came together. Would have taken me a couple of months!

Hey Todd!!!!!!!!!!

Is this better?????

<IMG SRC="http://www.terryhatfield.com/nrs21.jpg">

Didn't get everything I wanted to get done today, but I made sure to take time to get a good slathering of tung oil on that naked oak on the router station. :D

It's always a great feeling to get a shop project done. Makes me feel like I'm getting more organized in the shop.

Wowza! One heckuva' a nice transformation! And another one of those "start to finish in quick time" things again. Terry, you've just GOT to slow down a bit. You're making way too many of us look even slower than we already are! Great job! :cool:

Terry,

Looks like the current fad of "extreme makeover" has hit you and your shop/woodworking. You keep making these transformations in very short order. I like it!

On one hand, it's nice to see quality work done in such a short period of time. On the other hand you're really making me feel/look bad. ;)

Nice job!

Thanks everyone!!!!

It was really a fairly simple project that I had planned out WAY in advance..well atleast the top of the station. The faceframe and drawer changes were kinda by the seat of my pants, but it too was fairly simple.

I got a chance to use it during the construction of the drawers etc... and it worked great. I'm very pleased with the end result.

Now back to the coffee table!!!

Do-overs are so much fun and usually better than the first time around! Your project is a good example of that.

I think I have asked this before but I still haven't figured it out. How do you get text in between the pics? It's so much nicer to do this but I'll be darned if I can figure out how to do it. Send me a PM if you wish.

Byron,

I am not using the SMC upload program. I am actually writing the html code for each picture. The code links to the pics that are stored on my website. That's the only way I know of to insert the text where you want it.
