Granite is flat and hard...
Would you like a granite top for your workbench?
Is your workbench 4' wide?
Is it 12' long?
Will the legs support 14,000 pounds?
Can you afford $100?HOLY COW! freaks me out!

It's not exactly a work bench. Stone slabs are milled and surfaced to a grade standard of flatness for measuring objects.

Just put casters on the bottom and call it an assembly table!

Some outfit (Steel City? Jet?) is putting granite as an option instead of cast iron for their table saws! I think that is a great idea!

At 400 lbs each, you would need 35 casters, but I'm guessing my shop floor isn't as flat as the marble slab, so not all casters would touch, so call it 45 casters.
But then you have to add 30% for over-engineering which brings it to 55 casters...
55 casters @ $12.00 each= $660.00 (no tax, i buy over the internet with free shipping)

hmmmmmmmm....i'm thinking...........

nawwwww!

It's Steel City that's doing that, Chris, on one of their cabinet saws, one of their band saws, and on the fence of one of their jointers. They are going to see how they are received before they do any more.

Randal,
She would make me sleep on it, eat on it, you-know-what on it, and take it for long walks off short piers... Then she'd have a casket made from it for her dear departed husband.
