I've been reseaching the Powermatic lathe as I have bought the new 3530B. I noticed that there is a difference in stock numbers for the 3520B. The one I ordered is 1352001 while I have seen a 1352001PK number. The pic of lathe with the PK attached looks a little different in that the PK models have an oval Powermatic sign as well as black stripes on the main casting. The is also about a $100 differnce in price with the PK being higher. My lathe hasn't shipped yet and was wondering if I should order the PK model instead. Do all 3520B's have the remote switch? Thanks for any input you may have.

No, all 3520's do not come with a remote. I believe they want $75 for their remote. You can make your own remote for less than $10.

You will love your new lathe. I have the 3520b and it came with the oval logo and black stripes on the main casting.

Happy turning,

Dennis

Gilbert,

Congratulations! I have the 3520b and love it. Matter of fact, I didn't even know there was a 3530 and can't find any reference to it on the powermatic website.

When did this model come out, and what are the differences?

Gilbert. I bought my PM3520B and it was delivered in October. It doesn't have the remote. It does have the oval sign etc.

Let me correct a typo error. I meant to write the 3520B lathe.
Dennis, Ken does your lathes have the comparator bracket that attaches to the back of the tailstock bracket? Apparently, one can mount a finished spindle on dead centers and compared directly to the spindle being turned.

Gilbert,

As Tim said...the comparator is standard. I've only turned a couple of things so far on the PM. I turned a couple of Christmas ornaments and I just about finished an odd shaped NE. But I will say this....When I put that 25 lb....odd shaped rough and I mean rough, out-of-round unbalanced blank on the lathe ....it was sure nice to be able to spin it slow to turn it round and then spin it fast once it was round. Smoot.....quiet.......works as advertised.

Many steps up from the Jet VS Mini I was using.

I'm really looking forward to turning on it. I was using the 15" Palmgren lathe that ended up having all that trouble. After all the bugs were worked out, it was okay but still underpowered. I've got some big burls and some platter blanks that I plan on starting on real soon.

Gilbert,

You will love the 3520. I had the Palmgren before upgrading to the 3520B and now I made the two Palmgren headstocks into a buffing station.
