For the one or two folks who have been following the cradle boat progress, the whiskey plank went on this evening. The whiskey plank is the last hull plank to be installed. At this point the builder(s) sit back and enjoy a drink of whiskey. Since I don't have any whiskey in the house, I had a sip of diet coke.

Lest anyone think that the whiskey plank is the end of construction, it isn't. There's still a gazillion things to do but it won't be long and the boat can be turned right side up.

Here are some photos. The first couple are with Kari to show some scale. I know she doesn't look like she's pregnant. She doesn't when she's got clothes on. I think some of her students don't know she's pregnant, yet.

Here's the port side with the whiskey plank in place. The epoxy isn't totally cured yet so the planks haven't been trimmed yet. Since the outside of the planks will be painted, I've used thickened epoxy to fill some of the little dents. There's some epoxy on the bow but it will be sanded away.

And from the bow. It's not quite a straight on shot so things don't look symmetrical.

Finally, I squeezed the camera up inside. Then I inverted the images. The first shot shows the bow.

And between a couple of frames amidships
