Chair making books?
I was just wondering if any of you have any experience with chair making and know a good how to book for building chairs , not looking for rocking chairs or winzer type, but more traditional chairs for a dinning room set ?

Jeff Miller has a book on chairmaking thats a classic

http://www.amazon.com/Chairmaking-Design-Jeff-Miller/dp/1561581585/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1200065600&sr=8-1

It has plans for a variety of chairs and lots of detailed 'how-tos'.

Jesse, as per the reviews on Amazon for Jeff’s book it sounds like it is a very good book, I am going to see if my local library has it so I can check it out, thanks for the head up..

Richard

If you want to buy it eventually check out www.alibris.com (http://www.alibris.com). I've gotten a lot of classic woodworking books there for next to nothing and all of them have been in excellent condition. They're usually much lower than amazon (even the second hand dealers on amazon)

It may be difficult to find a used copy of Jeff's book cheap. His book went out of print for a while and used copies were VERY expensive (maybe $100). Taunton recently republished it but the used prices may not have fallen that much.

I agree that it's one of the few worthwhile books I found on making chairs.
