View Full Version : DW618 Router - Confirming Speed?

Is there any way to confirm the speed a router is running? We had extremely high winds and a very brief ( 1-2 second) power outage (and maybe surge?) the last time I was using my router. I had some momentary fluctuations of cutting speed that night, but assumed the power was just flaky. I'm not 100% sure but I swear it's running slower now on all speeds. It still screams with the knob on 6, but speed 1 seems almost like a drill press on high speed (maybe 3-4,000 rpm?). Is there any way they could verify this at a service center? I took a peak under the cover, and saw no obvious signs of damaged components.

Any other ideas? I don't have any other routers (or friends with them) to compare to.

Might try to find someone with a handheld digital tachometer (strobe light type). Most all metal turning shops have and use them.
