Saw this in Wood Magazine (#182 March 2008). It's from a piece of spalted "UNKNOWN" wood from my yard. 4" tall counting the finial x 2 1/4" wide.

Very nice. I got my magazine yesterday and the wife already suggested those would make nice gifts. Guess I'll be making a few. Any tips?

Just make sure that you don't make it any shorter than the plan calls for or the toothpicks won't fit.

Now that is really cool and my wife seconds it! Now she wants one for her father. How do I get instructions for that?

Did you turn the toothpicks also? :-)

Jon,

Buy the March issue of Wood magazine or, better yet, a subscription (it's a good wooworking magazine). The article is four pages.

Chris,

Very nice! I was just looking at my magazine last night and thinking that as a guy with a serious toothpick addiction, I need to try making one of those!

That is really neat. Good job, and I also really like the wood. Now, we'd like to see a bigger one for straws like they have at Johnny Rockets!:D

I believe that wood looks like spalted yellow poplar. I've turned a lot of poplar and most of it spalted with lots of green in it like that.

Beautiful job on the toothus-pickus-holderus!!! :D
