This is a birdhouse I turned as a donation to our local art center's fund raising auction. It's Apricot with lots of cracks filled with coffee (folgers) and CA glue. It's 20" tall by about 6.5" at the widest point and finished with minwax spar urethane for an outside finish. Turned in two pieces (3 counting the perch). Front and rear view.

Very cool, thanks for posting them. I love the cracks. May have to start drinking coffee so I have something to fill cracks with.

Looks great. It always amazes me how two pictures can be of the same piece of wood! The light and dark variations are amazing.

Very nice, Curt. What's most admirable is that the main 'box' and the bottom finial is one piece! Having tried (and failed) to do one that way, I admire your accomplishment! ;)

Thanks,

Bill

It seems that Apricot loves to crack. I'll have to try your method on a couple pieces I have her that cracked after the fact.

Maybe someday I can make something that nice. I hope it does well in the auction.

Curt, that is great. How deep do you hollow the cone (top piece)? Do you use CA to attach the pieces?
