Hi, does anyone know where I can see how to build ( prefer to make one) or buy a system for a dining room table thats 40x70 x 29 tall with 2 - 20 inch leafs. The leafs can be stored under or in closet, either system will work, prefer the easier version since budget isnt too big. The table they want looks like this http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=883&f=14071 (http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=883&f=14071)
Does the apron have ot have an overlap in it, so when you pull it doesnt show the slides? Id like to see a smooth apron on side.
I knew woodcraft and rockler had a system but I couldnt find it on there site. It doesnt help with building one much anyways. I know there about 300 and come 2 different lengths.

Thanks

Craig,
I just built a "butterfly leaf table. The leaf fold on itself and is stored in the center of the table. FWW had an article on it back several years ago, and they sent me a copy of it. If this is what you are looking for, I will scan it in and send it to you.

How about these for the slides? http://www.leevalley.com/hardware/page.aspx?c=1&p=40139&cat=3,43586
The leafs themselves have skirts so when you insert them it will have smooth sides. Like this..http://common.csnstores.com/common/products/GN/GN1073_a.jpg

Craig,

I'm in the process of making a walnut table that will have two 23" leaves; I'm going to use a metal table extender. I thought metal might have less of a sag in it with that size of opening. If you want me to send you details on where I got it, I will. A google search will get you there as well. My table will look pretty much like what your picture depics; 4" x 4" table legs with aprons with 1 1/2" thick walnut for the top...it is really a heavy thing!! My basic design came from a mission style table, except no trestle set up and the leaves.

Thanks, Id appreciate the info. I searched for Metal Table Expanders didnt come up with anything.
As far as sagging I just read the one on Lee Valleys site and they make it convex in the middle to try and prevent that, just an FYI.
