This is the bowl I was referring to in my last post. Hope you like it as much as I do!
This chunk of maple has just about everything working for it – curly, voids, color, bark, cracks, and a few birdseye just for effect.
Maple Bowl 11 7/8” x 4 ½” x 3/8”, sanded to 400, Watco Natural and a couple of quick wipe on/wipe off coats of Minwax Poly. Hasn’t been buffed yet as I want to wait another few days to make sure everything is good and dry.

As always – critiques and comments are appreciated!
Thanks for looking!

Steve,
Very sharp bowl. You nailed the curve -- very pleasing form. Well done.

nice one, steve!
i like the shape, and the wood is gorgeous.
did you have any trouble sanding over the void? did you sand on, or off of the lathe?

Looks like it might hold a little water, but on the whole must rate it as very artful.

Beautiful... so much so I'd even try to eat soup out of so I could say, "Donald Trump, eat your heart out."

Nice job Steve. There is a lot of character in that bowl. You did a good job of keeping the sapwood and heartwood even to get that hourglass shape in the grain too. I like it a lot.

Great one Steve. You gotta love turning where there are voids. Keeps you on your toes. Absolutely stunning.

Good job, yet again Steve! And you don't have to worry about somebody putting some type of batter or other food product that would potentially ruin the finish in there.
