View Full Version : Is 0.010" off on a table wing acceptable?

I got my Grizzly TS in Thursday.
One wing warped so a corner was down 0.030". I shimmed it so it was off 0.010".

Grizzly techical support made light of the problem. My gut reaction is that they are probably right; except on a wide panel it would never be an issue, and even there it isn't much.
What do you think?

He suggested clamping it to try to force the warp out; but I can't imagine how that would work.

They are replacing the other wing. It is actually broken. I emailed them with a picture of the damage and they asked me for my telephone numbers; saying someone would call me back in a couple days!
I called them and they said they would send a replacement out.

Down .01" in a corner wouldn't bother me much. If it bothers you, you probably can get it much straighter with clamps. You want to try bending it in the other direction (past flat a little) so when the clamp is remove it returns to flat.

Be certain it is warped first, though. Remove the wing and use a trusted straight edge (a good, machined level is good enough) to check it. If it seems flatter when removed, then the tension applied when attached to the table is warping it (which can also be fixed).
