I'm building a cabinet from a woodsmith magazine. It shows using a 3/8 rabbet bit for the inset of the door. Would it be alright to use a dado blade for this instead. I can't see why not! I don't want to chance a mistake this far in my project.

Thanks for any advice

Is this something you can do the full length of the workpiece, or does it have to "stop" at a point? If the latter, it will be easier with the router. If not, have at it with your table saw!

There are no stop points. It's all the way around the whole door. I just wanted to double check my first instincts. Thanks for the reply.

Just make sure you have a good enough dado blade set that you are satisfied with the finish it leaves. My stacked dado set has enough rake on the teeth that it looks slightly jagged. I use one of the sears molding heads with flat blades in it for rebating on the tablesaw instead.
