Space Balls - A Question

I will be using some space balls in a project that I have started. The diameter of a space ball is .25", while the width of the groove into which they will be placed is more like 5/16" - they roll up and down the groove like a marble in a child's game. Obviously, I will need them to stay put during the insertion of my panel. The question is "How do I keep them stationary?" I was thinking about a drop of hot glue on each side of each space ball. Anyone have any better suggestions?

I think they sell larger space-balls but I usually make my panels large enough to put a little pressure on the balls. If you make your panels so there is a little under 1/4" you should have no problem . 3/16" on each end should be fine..that would make your panel 3/8" total shorter then the depth of your two grooves.

I use a dab of yellow glue when the need arises.

Let it sit for a few minutes.

Also don't set a cup filled with 100 spaceballs on your bench, because you could accidently knock it off. DAMHIKT:D

Most raised panel sets cut a 1/4" groove automatically I believe. standard space balls fit in well altho occassionally I've had one or 2 drop out. Glue idea makes sense.

Glen, I just finished some raised paneled doors and I used medium CA. Just hold the ball in your hand and add a very small dab and drop into the groove. Works fine for me.

The barrel shaped space balls may stay in place a little easier, but they also might falll out if the gap is too wide.
