This piece turned out to be about 4.5 inches in diameter by 2.75 inches high. The thickness is quite consistent on this one, so it hollows out a bit. The only exception is the center of the bottom where I almost went through. You can't tell, unless you have light behind it.

I would have been fine, if I had left a foot on it, but I decided to make a jam chuck an turn it off. I just had a hard time turning the very center of the inside and got a bit too deep.

This was from a 8x8x3 blank, but I cut it down to have a couple small project pieces from it.

Almost forgot: Finish to this point is sanded to 320 and a few coats of BLO, and wiped down with paper towel.

Sorry for the dark pic. The LOML keeps hasseling me for not waiting for more light in our dark house.

That's a great looking pot/bowl!! One of the forms I happen to like a lot, too.

Thanks guys. Jim, I really like this form too. This is the first one of this form I turned.

Also the first bowl with a bowl gouge. That sure does make it easier once you get used to it.

Beautiful wood, like the kind of "X" pattern. Nice job!

That's a real good looker there Tim! I like this particular form also, I've done several like this I think it really shows off the figure of the wood. Well done!

I really like your work the shape and the wood look great. I can't tell if it's the setting on my screen but it look pretty dark here and since I like the bowl so much I brighten up the image. I hope you don't mind.
Here it is and now I like it even more.
