Bill,

Just for the record. I was sitting in MacDonald's Family Restaurant in Fairbury, IL and I told a friend of my FILs about the cherry pedestal table you made for the Itty Bitty contest. He called me a liar. He said no body could turn something that intricate and that small. He's a "turner" of sorts. Last Christmas my MIL gave me a very generous amount of money for Christmas with which I bought my Jamieson hollowing rig. The first HF I turned was shipped back to my MIL as she heard me describe it and I thought she deserved it. The same guy was in awe at my poor first attempt and when I saw him later this summer he believed me when I told him my feelble attempts were nothing compared to your minis.....Travis' bowls, Jim Ketron's bowls.....Keith's ......Mark C's.......etc.

Nice mini's Bill!

Beautiful work Bill! If I tried to turn something that small I would be mumbling to myself inside of an hour!

Bill - where did you find a candle that small?

Beautiful mini's Bill. Heck I couldn't see something that small let alone turn it.

Dennis, good mini or itty bitty turning tools can be found in quality carving chisels. Micro carving chisels come in the same shapes and forms as the larger turning tools we use for the larger turnings. At times just as expensive. One thing, you don't want to sharpen them on your grinder. 3.2 sec. and there gone.
Another tool I use is dental picks of sorts. Some I reshape and sharpen the required bevels and edges on. The dental picks are of a good quality steal and stay very sharp for a long time. Ask your dentist for some used ones, they don't resharpen them.
Lastly, another good tool to use are the mechanics pick sets, like one would see in a Snap-On set.
The only word of caution I have is. don't use 80 grit sand paper.:D

I can't think of anything to say except, "I'm in awe of you and these amazing, tiny pieces."
Thanks for letting us have a look.

Great mini's Bill. I'm afraid that if I ever tried one and liked it, I'd never throw a scrap or blank corner away again. I've already got containers full of pen and stopper blanks and have yet to do either...
