I have a Delta 37-196 Jointer.
It is a 6" jointer and the time to get new knives is coming up.
As far as I can tell, the 37-196 is exactly like the Delta 37-195 jointer.
I do know that they take the same replacement knives from Delta.
The model of the replacement knives from Delta is 37-658...
These Delta knives cost around $50 on average.
Most aftermarket knives are half that.

Here is what I am trying to find out.
I went to Freud's website to pick up some knives and they only go by size.
Nowhere in my owner's manual does it state the size of these knives.
I looked at a couple of stores online but they all list the exact same knives as being different sizes.

Can anybody tell me what sized knives are compatible with this Jointer...or any jointer that takes the Delta 37-658 knives?

Thanks

Measure yours.. Most 6" jointers take the same size blade. 6" or 6 1/8" as it's been a while since I had a 6". I used to purchase them from Sunhill Machinery when I did for around $15 a set at that time.

Sarge..

the most reliable way to solve this is to remove one of your knives and measure it. You are now free to look into the various suppliers around.

I have a 6" Delta jointer also, different model than yours. Just as others have said measure them and I bought my replacements from INfinity Tools. $30 and they have performed flawlessly.

Delta wants $60 for them.

Go to Infinity's web site and and look them up. They have several sizes listed. You also have your choice of carbide or HSS.

Hope this helps!!!

After measuring them,go to global tooling's web site and match them up. Expect to pay between $12 and $20 for a set. I usually order two sets, as the shipping is almost the same.

For the last two responders: Could either of you confirm this link for Global Tooling is correct? If not please post a link.

Thanks.

http://www.globaltooling.bizhosting.com/Yes that is correct! I am very pleased with the knives I got from them. For my Delta 15" planer, they are less than $40, and local outfit wants about $100
