Nova G3 chuck should it be smooth?

I received a Nova G3 chuck for Christmas and am wondering if it is working the way it should. I have only taken it out of the box and put the key in. When turning it seems hard to turn, and almost as if it is stuttering. If you have used one could you tell me how smooth the operation of it is? They only other chuck I have used is the Nova Midi chuck and that is very smooth to open and close.

I'm guessing your chuck key isn't seated all the way before being turned. Took me a few tries before I got the hang of mine:D

I've got 2 of them and agree -if key is not well placed it will seem hard to turn--to me its a very good chuck :D

I gently wiggle my key in til the round section is seated flush then turn.My G3 turns smoothly.

No problems here with the G3 chuck. Mine turns very smooth as long as the key is seated properly. It's a great chuck. Enjoy.

Ditto the above, I've had mine 18 months and not a sniffle...
