Maple bowl with amazing flame, feather and lots of curl! Bowl is 8 7/8” x 3”, sanded to 400 grit, Watco ‘Natural’ Danish Oil, multiple coats of Minwax Gloss Poly, then buffed.

Let me be the first to say that this one's a winnner too, and it doesn't have creepy eyes staring at ya! (That could be viewed as a positive or a negative) Great work, as always.

I don't usually curse on these boards, but sacred intercourse  that wood is beautiful!
And you did a really nice job of showing it off.
I don't see how anyone could have done this any better.

A piece of wood to a turner is much like a box of chocolates, you just never know what your going to get, but most likely it will be a pleasant surprise.

I can only say that the photo doesn't do the piece justis. having eyeballed it, I can only say it is much more impressive that way. Could you get a close up of the feather?

Thanks everyone for all the kind comments!

Bob is right - the photos just don't do the bowl justice! Here's a close up of the feather - it actually looks like it is lit up from within!

WOW :D:). Sweet bowl Steve. You nailed the 'highest use' for that piece of wood. Nice shape and the invisible/non-foot was the perfect choice. Finish looks great.

Simply beautiful.
