I recently took apart and the re-assembled the 45* tilt assembly on my PM 63 TS.
Although I got a lot of the slop out of the worm drive on my
45* tilt, there still is a little bit. I believe the problem is in the collars. Here are some diagrams of the tilt assembly:

The collars are #95 in picture a. The assembly rod (or worm, #93 picture a) slides through the hole in the side and then through the plate (#32 marked in light red in picture b) before the wheel (#87 in picture a). Inside the cabinet they are locked down with allen screw #96 (green) in roughly the positions marked in red (picture a), one against the inside of the cabinet, the other against the front trunnion. The worm gear (purple) is held in place with a pin, and I don't believe that placement can be adjusted. The area in yellow doesn't exist on my saw, and there is no part # or name for it, so it may be an ink smear http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/slap.gif I currently have the collars as far apart from each other as I could get them, with only two hands. Now for my question (you probably wondered if the WAS a question in your future http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/slap.gif). Are the collars supposed to be a "set" distance from each other, and how do I determine that distance. Or are they to be as far apart as I can get them? I can get a second person to apply leverage to widen the gap, if that is the case.
I believe there will always be a little slop between the gears, but I am not very mechanically inclined, so I really wouldn't know. Any help will be appreciated. TIA
