For folks in Southern California and Northern California, Lie-Nielsen is having another hand-tool event (January 18th and 19th at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa) and February 23-24 at The Crucible in Oakland. I attended one of these last year and it was a lot of fun -- I actually got to meet a lot of great folks including Michael Auriou (and practice cutting teeth on a file) before his company went under. I was fortunate and bought a cabinet makers rasp:D -- in hindsight I wish I had bought a couple of other sizes! :(
I am going to try and go on Saturday -- there are demonstrations and a chance to play with all of the tools and get some nice discounts too. It is also a great opportunity to meet some of the finest tool makers and craftsman (Brian Boggs, etc...).
