NE Maple Bowl

I'm pretty happy with this one. cracking a tiny bit but not bad. I might end up putting poly on then buffing, or just buffing with the mineral oil it has on now.
6 by 5 1/2 by 3 in high. Critique Please. 3/8 thick... has a tiny bit of curl/quilting.

Great job keeping all that bark on there, and the finish looks great also. Some people would like the tenon to be turned all the way down flush, but in most instances I think it looks good!

I'm kind of new to turning, so how would you hold the NE bowl to remove the foot?

Greg, you could take it off the chuck, and use something like 40 grit sandpaper to sand off the foot. I did a photo essay about how to reverse turn a bowl on a lathe and remove the foot. It might still be on the Creek.

Greg I went to a sporting goods store and bought a bunch of rubber balls. I find a ball that just fits the bowl and clamp it in my home made doughnut chuck. Take light cuts. works good.

Thanks guys. I'll think about removing the foot. I was thinking of sanding the inside a little more when I first finished it, and I'm planning on it now cause of some roughness that turned up... so good think i still have the foot :D
