Unifence installation

I just installed a used unifence on my new saw and I was wondering if I should leave it up off the table a 16th or if it should run flat on the top of the table. Also I am waiting for my ts-aligner jr to come but I checked the fence with my square and it seemed pretty good except the far end was warped a little at the top. There is a little bit of minor scratching on the face also. My friend owns a machine shop and I was thinking of having him true the fence up. That shouldn't hurt anything should it?

If it were me, I would leave a little space between the tabletop for ease of movement.

I probably wouldn't bother truing it if it is only a few thousandths.
