Was in Lowes and bought a card pf AA lithium batteries. Looked around for a charger, none present.
Anyway, I took them home and popped them intp the NH charger, the light just went on and off. Went back and asked at the desk, young person told me they sent them along and sge stocked them but has no idea how to charge them. Can I get some enlightenment?

... they are fully charged. Lithium batteries hold a charge MUCH longer than others. NiMh will slowly trickle away, but Lithium's do not bleed off.

Try using them for a short time, and see if they will take a charge then.

I use those in one of my cameras...as far as I know, they are not rechargeable.

They do make "lithium-ion" rechargeable batteries, but those are usually non-standard sizes and require a special charger, not the one used for NIMH batteries.

Do a little research and you will find that is a good way to burn your house down. If they are rechargable lithiums you want a dedicated Lithium charger. Chargers for Ni-cads and NiMh batteries are not even the same but will work, a lithium battery in one of those can overheat and explode into a burning mass.

Here is a link to Rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries, these will replace 2 AA batteries.

Now if you want some really awesome AA batteries try these.

I have been using these low discharge batteries for awhile now and they are great.

Did a little looking - only specialized chargers - not your standard NiMh charger - will work. Improper charging can cause fires on the Lithium batteries.

Looks like you will need to return.

I get all my betteries and chargers from these guys:

You probably bought Energizer Lithium batteries. These are great in cameras, GPS units, etc. They are not rechargeable, but last much longer and will work in a large temperature range (you pay dearly for that functionality). Unfortunately, they are usually displayed right next to the rechargeable NiMh batteries at Lowes. I don't know if these will melt if placed into a charger, but it is safe to say that they will not recharge.

Here is a link to Sanyos battery. I have some ordered from Amazon. I bought the same type from Rayovac and so far they have been excellent, but the Sanyos were the first(I think) and get better reviews. Looks like they FINALLY have the rechargeable battery figured out. They charge in any Ni-mh charger, even the fast ones(15-30 minutes).

I started a thread in the OT forum about similar. MTO battery has NiMH batteries that don't self discharge much at all and are rechargeable.
