View Full Version : Do cabinets hold water?

I had put the laundry cabinets in place but not fastened to take some measurements and such. In doing so I removed the washing machine drain hose. I had to do some work at the computer and told the wife if she did any laundry to put the drain hose back in (Honestly, I really told her). She started yelling for help and telling me she was sorry at the same time. I got there just in time to see water running out of the cabinet and all over the floor. Thank God we have a front load washer and dryer that uses much less water.
The cabinets are drying now. I think they will be ok.

D'oh!

The cabinets will likely be fine...it's standing water that is more of a problem, and since you got to thing right away, getting them dried out on a timely basis will make a big difference.

I agree with Jim, but I would also place a small fan in the area blowing on the open cabinets to speed up the drying process.

Sorry to hear about that.
I've had similar situations and have had good luck wiping them as dry as possible and then letting them air out by leaving the doors and drawers open.
Hope it all works out ok.
