Must it be one wide plank, or can the 15" width be glued up from two or three boards?

Speaking from the Ohio Valley (big Poplar country), You can easily find boards that wide. (I have some 25" wide). The problem will be in the thickness. That thickness would be hard to find "off the shelf".

I think you need to find a mill in Kentucky or Tennesee that will custom cut and kiln dry that wood for you.

An old master furniture maker around here once had a poplar board (one piece) that measured 16' long x 1-3/4" thick x 37" wide.

I'm not sure how far west Yellow Poplar grows but I think the Mississippi river is about it.

I agree that you'll likely need to source from a mill or one of the larger hardwood concerns for 8/4 stock in those sizes. 8/4 rough will provide you with 1 3/4" thickness after milling as long as it was dried correctly and is stable.

Woodworkers Source has 8/4 poplar, but the widths are random and typically not 15":
