I recently inherited an old plane from my grandfather...I was curious if someone could help identify what model of hand plane it is. I can't see any markings on the body...I also would appreciate some advice on what I need to do to restore it...there is some surface rust and the back handle (official name?) is broke...I'm a newbie at handplanes so any advice is welcome...
thanks
Doug

First off Welcome to the Creek.
I'm sure somebody will be able to help you identify your plane if you post some pics.
As for rehabbing, there are lots of threads on this topic, and not too long ago Clint Jones posted a great tutorial on making a new tote (handle) for a plane. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=71658

Randy Roeder's site is tops for Miller Falls info, as has been suggested. Here's the link to the main page:
