Interesting article today on the centuries old Minka farmhouses in Japan. There are some good photos of joinery that has held up for a loooong time! Some of the beams are twisty wood. The article gives a story of an American carpenter who is disassembling a 6,000 sq ft farmhouse and transporting it across the pacific ocean to his home.
