View Full Version : Delta 22-580 "missing alignment pins"

I purchased a 22-580 (refurbished) months ago and am changing blades tonight for the first time.
First blade changed, no problem.
Remove the second blade and when I go to replace it I find the alignment pins for the blade are pushed completely flush with the cutterhead.
77689
This is the cutterhead where the pins are both flush with the cutterhead.
77688
This is the other side of the cutterhead and both pins are just fine.
I cannot see any way to adjust these to get them to protrude from cutterhead to actually align the blade and I'm stuck.
Does anyone know a way to adjust these pins?
Hopefully there's a way to do this cause if not then I'm stuck. :(
Thanks,
jeff

Man thats a bummer

I wonder if you call Delta if they could give you any idea what to do to get the pin out.
I am sure they are hardened pin and would be very hard to drill, it can be done but its not easy.

Can you get to the backside of the pin?

I looked for threads or something indicating that they turn.
Nothing.
I tried to tap them gently to move them and they didn't budge.

You may try to heat the main body of the unit, not the pin, about an inch or so to each side and then use a drift punch to knock out the pin.
I would say that when the blades were install it did not get on the pin and then the bolt was tightened and pushed the pin in.

It may take more than a light tap. I would try to pop them pretty good with a drift punch. You might try spraying some penetrating oil on them first too.

Took a number of harder taps (more like whacks) to get the pins to protrude enough to use.
Hopefully the whacks didn't impact the bearings.
Anyway, I'll test it out on some wood tomorrow.
Thanks for the advice.
