Some of you may recall I was asking a few weeks ago for your thoughts on setting up a very small shop. Well I just got it (almost) complete...attached are the before and after pics.

As shops go, it will never quite be done but I'm able to start turning again after a 16 month hiatus! :)

Thanks again for your contributions,
Caleb

That's a great use of space! Makes me wonder why I need more room (it's to have other junk laying around and getting in the way...).

Looks like very efficient use of space, everthing close at hand. Nice job.

Very nice. I'm going to bookmark this thread for the next time I am feeling down about the small size of my shop!

You are, believe it or not, not the first SMC member to use what is essentially a small closet as a turning studio...nice job!

Nice job Caleb. I looks like you have some nice bench space as well as some efficient use of the space. Looks like you're well on the way to having the man cave there.

All I can say is, it doesn't matter how you get there... just so you get there. Good luck.

Hey! You came to my house and took pictures... wait... I don't have a jet...

That looks almost exactly like my closet shop, you did a great job and I'm sure you'll find in very productive. I can always find a way to do any job I need within my 40 square feet.

Great job, cant wait to see some projects!

Its perfect!

is there somewhere on the outside of your shop you could stash a dust collector and route the tubing into your work area?

I promise, I will never ever complain about the size of my work shop ever again :)

Have fun!

Here I was complaining about how small my garage shop is that I have to share with LOML and her car. Never again. Very nice job and can you clean mine up for me.

Hey,

Thanks for all your compliments. Someone asked about dust collection -- I have a half-face respirator and it's going to have to stay at that for now.The other thing is, I'm always close to a door in there if I need fresh air. :-)

Take care,
Caleb

Great use of space. I have my new Jet1642 in the laundry room and it's not a whole lot bigger than your area. Wife is already complaining about dust and wood chips......oh well, I told her it's either that or I get her half of the garage:D Dale

What's in your half of the garage? I know you aren't going to say you actually park a vehicle in there. That's what they make driveways curbs for.

Raymond, a 2000 Yamaha Roadstar Silverado, and a 2000 Miata SE, what can I say, I'm a motorhead also. My daily commuter is outside. I could sure use a 4 car garage, then I could make one bay a shop;) Dale
