I ran across some discounted cedar at the local big box and decided to build a small shelf from it.I wanted to route either a cove or ogee profile to add little interest to the piece.Having never worked with cedar before I tried routing the ogee on some scrap and it tore out pretty badly on the end grain.I was hoping someone could give some advice on how to prevent this for future reference.I ended up making some thin half round moulding to use as edging for this one.
Thanks Chris

Cedar is very soft material so you need very sharp tooling and need to plan your cutting so that you leave enough material to take one final pass to clean things up.
