This piece came from a maple tree that was dying and had to be cut down. It is 9" x 3 1/4" x 3/16"+. After turning and finishing with Danish oil I decided to keep this one for myself. Just got my photo tent so I am taking pics and taking pics, still learning so they are not the best.

Interesting piece Ryan! Good looking wood - from what I can see. Would it be possible to see another angle or two? How did you finish off the bottom of the bowl?

That looks pretty scary to turn! Nice job bringing it to completion.

Interesting indeed. I, too, would like to see other angles.

I think it's wonderful. It must have been quite a challenge. Do you have any other pics?

I think you did a great job with that burl. I come across a lot of burls that are very challenging to turn because of thier natural shape, and voids. There are also many that I get that have dead wood within them. You did a great job keeping that piece from blowing apart, and getting the largest turning you could from it. I hope you did not have any knuckle catches. Thanks for sharing this piece with us.

Ryan, that thing looks like it was scarier to turn than a four-bladed propeller! Beautiful work.

Steve I found some time today here are a couple mor pics. I chisled the tenon off and sande the bottom smooth with a shallow dimple to help it sit flat
