With all the talk of tool handles I decided I need to make a few handles. I need some highly figured Birdseye Maple and or Kingswood blanks in 1 3/4 x 26. a few shorter blanks would do also as I plan on making some screwdriver kits for Christmas presents. Any help in locating some sure would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian

I have some hard maple with knots which have made some great pens. However I doubt if there is anything that would be long enough to do what you need to make. Probably 6-7 inches max length.

I've seen 2x2x24 Kingwood blanks at my local Rockler.

Thanks Guys for your replies.

Gary, are you heading to the Rockler store anytime soon? If so, and if you remember, can you check the price? I'm going to call them and WoodCraft to see if they have any they can ship and what the price is. I'm also going to call both Krista's and Justins contacts listed. As well as Clay Johnson(I think that's his name) that sells a lot of turning stock out of Ky.

Has anyone ever Drilled out their wooden handles and loaded them with lead shot? Or would this weaken the handle too much.

Thanks, Brian

Try Bell Forest Products. They are in the heart of northern Michigans maple country and can provide any product you might want.
