I made this two for an exchange going on with the pen turning group. One wood and one acrylic. The wood was pretty colorless so I used yellow, then orange and last geen dye to color it but the two halfs did not take it the same. I'm concerne about the 2 tone of the cap and body.
What do you think?
Thanks for your comments

Alex, I wouldn't worry about it. It looks fine. I would've thought it to just be hardwood with sapwood. They both look great. Love the Panache. I've got a bunch of those but haven't turned any of them yet. Those look neat! Is that an Acrylester blank or something else? Way, Way cool!!

Alex, I agree with Brian that they both look great. Unless you bring attention to the dye as a problem I don't think anyone would complain. Personally I think it is more interesting that way. What kind of wood is it? Also, where do you get your kits?

Alex I wouldn't sweat it. If you hadn't said anything I would have never known. Larry Hasiak a pro turner told me one time never tell your secret and no one will ever know the difference. Pens look great. Well done.

Looks good to me; I quite like it. There is enough red in the lighter colored end that I would have assumed it was the nature of the wood.

Alex....I like the wood...and the pen it's used on. They acrylic is a little bold for me but I like the style of the pen. My wife, however, would love that acrylic one!

Very nice! I would have assumed the color variation was natural had you not told me otherwise. I hope to get some time today to work on my pen for the exchange. I signed up for wood only, but I should have signed up for both to get a chance at recieving your pens.:D

Benjamin- both kits are from Craft Supplies USA aka The Woodturners Catalog (woodturnerscatalog.com). The top one looks to be either a Gentlemans, or a Jr Gentlemans, and the bottom one is a Panache.

Thanks for the comments everyone. The blank is celluloid from CSUSA and they call it Amber Marble.
