Anyone got any thoughts about engraving seashell I got a line on engraving a simple cameo silhouette
on 400 necklaces. I am looking for pros v cons of engraving seashell . and any suggestions on power and speed settings would be helpful as well.
Thanks jim

Except for the fact that it smells like a bad day at the dentists office, shell engraves quite well. You'll have to play with settings as different shells have different thickness of the outer shell. If you can, you want to just engrave off the outer shell and go down to the pearly layer underneath. Focus can also be a problem with the curve of the shell piece. Ask to see a good representation of samples before bidding the job. I just did a couple of dozen glass candy dishes, with "flat" bottoms. There was so much curve from the glass shrinking as it cooled, I had to do each one individually and set the focus twice, once for the high part and once for the low part.

I am new to the laser world, and can use all the guidance I can get.
