I was visiting a local kitchen showroom today and I saw a cabinet design that i really liked . The basic design was a raised panel door however instead of a cope and stick profile it had an applied molding. I was curious how this is done, is the bottom edge of the applied molding that contacts the panel tapered to the contour of the raised panel? Or is there some other technique that I am not aware of (I am new to cabinetry making so this is highly likely).

Thank you

I have only seen that on flat panel doors. It would have to be curved to fit the panel if the panel is raised.

derek, the bottom of the molding is most likely rabbeted to fit the space left by the raised panel.
