opinion on edge lit acrylic in 3d

Our designer want to have a ceiling light cover done in engraved edge lit acrylic mirror 1/4",:cool: what do you all think of that? Have you got a better idea? Help please.

Acrylic mirror is often Extruded Acrylic. It cuts fine with a LASER but does not engrave of the face well. If they are engraving on the backside, you can get some unique results.
