I bought a Rikon 13" drill press about a month ago from Woodcraft (floor model), when I got it home it worked but I noticed some problems. I called Rikon and their cs was exceptional and the problems were resolved. I really like the machine but it was just too tall on one of my standard size cabinet tops, and I can always use more storage. I just finished the solution to the problem, built a cabinet, placed it on a mobile base and now I am happy.

Great Job

That cabinet is almost too nice for the shop.

First off, nice cabinet work. Secondly which mobile base are you using. I just picked up a DP myself and I am contemplating the base issue mightly. I looked at my options while in Woodcraft the other day and not one of the choices inspired me. They appear to be either overpriced and inadequate for the task, or inexpensive and even less up to the task.

Dennis,

The base is from Woodcraft: http://woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=5114

I have used the same one on my Band Saw and an assembly table. I have used others as well (for less $) but from now on I will be using this one. It's the best I've found for the money.
