What is the best way to sharpen a barrel trimmer?

I have been using the blue colored diamond sharpener that is in my DMT kit. I take the cutter off of the shaft to do the sharpening. So far it has worked pretty well... I actually get ribbons of wood when trimming again.

Just be careful once it's sharp... you get down to the brass a LOT faster when it is sharp. I over trimmed the first couple of them.

I second the diamond file. Be sure to keep the angle of the flutes the same.

Fine file works fine on these things for me. They are not high speed steel and so don't really need the diamond treatment, but that doesn't mean you can't use it.

Remember to do the same number of strokes on each edge.

Personally, I'd be a-skeered to use a dremel on 'em! I'd end up with some sort of fancy schmancy cutter that would produce scalloped ~~~~~~~ edges or something! Files are at least flat to begin with.
