I'm having a problem with the rotary setup for champagne flutes.
If I place the hold-down inside the lip, the base will be too high on the other end. If I hang the base over the other end, it weighs it down and I don't get good contact with the drive wheels.
Turning the flute around doesn't seem to work well either.
Advice please.

Tim,

I had the same issue and was able to solve it by removing the hold-down wheel and placing a baggie of sand inside the glass. The extra weight held the glass down for good contact/rotation.

I never use the hold down wheel. I use a half dozen glass marbles to add the weight. Since they roll inside the flute as it engraves you don't have to worry about a sudden shift in the weight inside the flute.

Tim - using a rubber band around glass on the drive wheels will help.
