Hi all-
I was just getting addicted to turning about a year ago, when I was forced by various reasons (logistics, health, etc.) to give it up for a while. I got back to turning a few weeks ago, and started back slow by turning a bunch of pens for x-mas gifts. Today I was able to get the first coat of finish on my second ever HF. It is from a mesquite crotch I found in the firewood pile, and is 5.5" high x 7" wide, with a 1.5" hole and 1/4" thick walls. As soon as I get time, I need to make a donut chuck so I can turn off the tennon and make a nice foot for it.

That is a wonderful piece. I really like the look of your form. Some day I hope to be able to do those hollow forms.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. I had planned a little different shape, but between a few catches and some termite damage the shape kinda determined itself. Wanted to make that donut chuck today and finish this thing, but the rain is keeping me in the house. One of these days I'll have a shop to work in instead of working in the yard.

The vortex doesn't take kindly to folks runnin' off. That's why it sucked you back in. (don't make it angry).

Great piece!!! Lots of character.:)
