This vase was taken from a Black Walnut buttress root from a very stinky diseased broken off at the trunk tree. Wow, that was a lot to get out. It is 6-3/4" by 4-1/2" by 1/4" wall thickness. Tim

That's a nice piece Tim. The wood is beautiful and you have a well formed vase.

I know what you mean by stinky walnut too. I've had some that smelled like cow manure when you turned it but the figure in it was wonderful.

Man the wood is speaking here. Looks to me like a micro suede sheet on a bed after it's been slept in. The folds and layers in the sheets are making shadows on the layers beneath. Great piece of wood.
