For anybody interested the Forrest Miter Master seems to be on sale for $80 after discount on Amazon. I don't know if this any better or different than a Chopmaster, but the price seems good. I saw the 100 tooth Miter Master on there as well. I think I'm bladed out this year but an FYI...

Would there be any reason to get the 80 over the 100 tooth for a CMS?

There's always a balance and it depends on what you're cutting and what you're cutting it with. If all else is equal, the higher the tooth count the cleaner the cut, but there's also more drag and a slower feedrate. There's never a free lunch. For thick dense material, 100T might struggle getting through without burning....heck an 80T might struggle too depending.

Add a low priced power tool to the cart, such as:

http://www.amazon.com/Dremel-290-01-Stroke-Engraver-Template/dp/B0000302YN/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1197311986&sr=8-1

and you get another 20% off....

Of course this works better for buying something like a $200 dado set. $40 off for the blade promo, then $40 off for the power tool deal. Add back the price of the power tool (such as that dremel) and the total comes to about $135. The power tool gets discounted too I noticed...

It was my understanding these blades were intended for non-sliding, stationary saws in commercial pic framing, cab parts shops, like this double miter saw:

I don't see a 1" arbor available for 12" blades on Forrest's website either. Does anyone actually have any experience with these?

thanks

But from the Forrest Sawblades online site:

http://www.forrestsawbladesonline.com/application_chart.html

80 or 100 teeth
0° hook

For single or double
chop saws, table,
and radial arm saws

Produces precise
45° cuts
Delivers perfect 90° joints with no gaps
Ideal for picture frames, window frames and blinds, toe notching, and fine millwork
ATBR - wood, ATB

aluminum, TCG -
aluminum and PVC It does seem like it similar to the chopmaster in intended use but the base price is $20-$60 bucks higher.

I have beeen using an 80 Tooth marathon on a Dewalt 10inch CMS, but I don't know what a really good cut should look like.
