Great looking. You did justice to that piece of wood. That lower right point looks pretty nasty when turning on your direction on the lathe.

Very cool, I'd be a little nervous about the hook too!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments, I tried to get the most of this burl thats the only reason for that pointed section. I did soften that a bit. This was a very quick picture, my web site is on the fritz so I've been turning instead of photo taking. The LOML is the photo person, I just turn them. The 5 part finish that I use on my cabinets as well as turnings is a trial and error of the past 5 years or so. It is very similar to sealacell. My finishes start with 220 grit then the first coat of oil. Wait a week , sand to 320 another coat of oil another week. Some of the vases and bowls have 6 coats on them and can take as long as 8 weeks to finish. All my cabinets have 5 coats of this oils/poly mix. I paid 1$ per inch for this burl $10.00 and I have 2 sources that I choose from. Thats something else I can post pictures of, my burls Gloat--Gloat. Thanks again,Tim.

Wow! That's a beauty!

(Just don't try to eat
icecream out of it...
you might get chocolate
stains on your lap)

You are a brave man
taking on that burl.
Good job!
