The Sawmill/Kiln operation that I have been using went out of business. It's ashamed, they did great work. Said that there just wasn't enough business to stay in business.

So, does anybody know of one in Southwest Louisiana or Southeast Texas? I'm mostly looking for someone with a Kiln that that knows what they are doing and can handle boards at least 12' long.

Paul,
Why not build your own?
Here are some online plans (http://www.builditsolar.com/Projects/WoodDrying/wood_kiln.htm) and some additional info here (http://www.fpl.fs.fed.us/documnts/fplgtr/fplgtr57.pdf) and here (http://www.modernwoodworking.com/02issues/July/news/drying.shtml)

Thanks Ted

I am planning on doing that in a year or two when things slow down some. I have done alot of internet research on the solar kilns but have not spoken to anyone that actually operates one. Do you have one? The guy I was using had a log furnace kiln with 3 phase blowers. He would take the wood up to 180 degrees. That would kill anything (insect or organic) living in the wood. The wood would end up at a moisture content of 6-8%.
