Rather than duplicate the pictures (save space and hopefully won't step on anyone's toes), I've posted pix of most of the output from the Kansas City metro area woodturners' efforts to support the Freedom Pen Project. We had 4 work days, bringing together three AAW chapter volunteers, plus numerous individuals who worked at home to prep and finalize pens for the effort.

Visit those pens at THIS LINK (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?p=712201#post712201), in the 3rd post in that thread. The story is there, too. If I'm supposed to put the pix here, too, I can do that, but not without some Mod saying "OKAY" (preferably done with an Alvin accent).

They're already talking about next year and turners are lining up to bring me more wood, already cut to size! Good causes bring out the best in folks, I'm convinced. Especially if it means a good reason to be making chips in the shop. :)

Someone asked for a couple of detail shots. My camera is not very good at focus & close-ups. Of course, it might me more of operator error, but hey.

Here are 8 of the nearly 400 pens that will be sent to the armed forces in the Middle East.

From top to bottom, these pens were made using purpleheart, spalted maple, padauk, and wild cherry burl.

From top to bottom, the top two pens were made using black walnut, myrtle burl, and Corian.

The "tree" in the pix linked in first post was made up of 330 of these 5" pens, almost all of the SlimLine persuasion.
