This may be more of a question for the woodworking section but figured I would try it here first. I have had several requests from people looking for a basic engraved wooden guest book, the type you would see at a persons cottage, bed & breakfast, etc. Any idea as to where I could purchase these or even maybe a design idea for making a few of my own in the workshop?

Thanks.

Colorado Heirloom (www.coloradoheirloom.com (http://www.coloradoheirloom.com)) has wooden binders. Burford Albums (www.burfordalbums.com (http://www.burfordalbums.com)) sells wooden photo albums but I think they only sell them laser engraved.

i found this at laser bits http://laserbits.com/
http://laserbits.com/images/PhotoAlbums.jpg hope it helps and hope it is ok to post the link. i have never used anything from them so you will need to ask some of the older more experienced posters how their service or products are.

I too get mine from Laser Bits - but - beware the photo albums (mini and combo) are just that - the 4X6 photo holders are glued at the binder.

If you need a three ring binder type - don't go for the cheap ones...

Thanks guys. Actually I already have the alder albums but they are way to thick and as mentioned they do not come apart at the binding. I am thinking some type of design with a flat back, maybe of 1/4 or 3/8" board, then a cover of the same material with a couple of hinges or a leather lashing on the left side holding maybe 10-20 sheets of thick paper in between.

I haven't got the whole design down on paper yet but the fuzzy design is in my head and in time it will come out! Of course if I could buy such an item at a reasonable price I would be that much further ahead for time.

Thanks again.

I have made these myself. I use the spirals with wood front and back. These will lay flat, look nice and are easy to make with how ever many sheets of paper you want. You can use any type of paper to jazz it up too. I engrave the fronts too.

The binders from Colorado Heirloom are very nice and engrave well. I am not fond of the ones from Laserbits, the finish appears "cheap" if thats the right word. they don't engrave as nice, I think they're birch, as opposed to Maple.
