I finally finished the Murphy Bed I have been working on for the last month or so. This is my first project that I feel comfortable posting for all of you to see. Constructed using the Create-a-Bed Hardware kit from Lee Valley. Materials are Shop grade birch ply, red oak for the inner structure and maple for the "Trim". Finished with Flecto/Varathane "Early American" stain and 3 coats of Varathane SemiGloss Water Based. Neither my wife or I liked the "blocks" suggested for the legs, hence some reworking of the plans and a lot of head scratching figuring out how to do things.

It secures to the wall studs at the top of the bed. I am contemplating also screwing to the studs through the headboard as an added measure, but it is plenty solid as is.

Thanks for the comment.

Been thinking of these as a solution to a number of bed problem we sometimes have up at the lake. Thanks for sharing.

That is where this is in our house, the room acts as, spare bedroom, office, nap room (wife runs in home daycare). So normally during the day there are three small cribs in the room which is only about 10x10.
