Any good recommendations for a good cabinet building book. Basics on up for someone who never really learned how to correctly build them.

Cabinetmaking and Millwork by Fierer--a text book that covers everything you might need; tool and machine use, construction, a valuable resource

Hey Sean,
How about a Kreg K3 pocket hole system and the cabinet making DVD to go with it? Lowes and Amazon both sell the jig for about the same $$.

I want to use mine to make some sturdy cabinets for my shop.

Buy Bob Lang's " The Complete Kitchen Cabinetmaker". It is the best cabinetmaker book I have come across. If anyone knows a better book after reading this one let me know. I'll buy that one too.

Tolpin's "Building Traditional Kitchen Cabinets" is my favorite so far... Its only focused on kitchen cabinets however.

sean, if this is your first time at building cabinets, danny proulx's book on building kitchen cabinets is EXCELLENT in its simplicity and the fact that it gives you actual cut lists for standard dimensions although his slab plywood door cabinets are quite hideous. udo schmidt's book doesn't give you cutlists but shows you how build kitchen cabinets like you'd see in home depot complete with dovetailed drawers and glass mullion doors and are the ones that i modelled my kitchen cabinets after. the tolpin book isn't bad and has some helpful tips as well but i didn't like the country style that he mostly builds. the complete cabinetmaker by bob lang is extremely well-written and offers great advice on hinge placement and frameless construction and even has a section on how to build beaded inset face frames with the bead ROUTED on to the face frame member. good luck!
