I've got the bosch combo plunge & fixed 1617 EVSPK series. I'd like to get a d handle for that motor. I see one on amazon , but it says for series 1618 routers?????? Will it fit my 1617, 21/4 horse? And what's the difference between the 1618 and 1617?????

There is a 1618, non variable speed and I believe only rated at two horse, then there is a 1618 variable speed, slow start. The difference I know of, is the length of the cord coming out of the motor.

I have 2 of the Bosch D handle routers. Both are 1618 EVS models. The only difference between the 1617 EVS motor & the 1618 EVS motor is a very short cord on the 1618s.

Like the other guys said the 1618 has a pigtail because the trigger is on the D-handle part of the base.

I have a question related to this. I've got the older Bosch 1617evspk with the magnesium base. Will a new 1618 with the aluminum base work with my magnesium stuff? Likewise, would I be able to use a RA1165 with it (above table mount base)?

The magnesium and aluminum should be interchangeable. I've got 2 1617 motors (one in my router table and one to be used with the plunge and fixed bases)

I don't think the 1618 will work with the 1617 though, because of the pigtail.
